This flat was my first interiors project. A typical Edinburgh tenement, it had beautiful proportions and some gorgeous period features.
But when we bought it, it was tired and dated, and really needed an injection of style and colour.
Using a rich green/ grey as a base palette for the living room walls and kitchen cabinets, I then layered pattern and textiles to add warmth and texture to each room. From kilim rugs and cushions, to Persian rugs and tartan sofas, I've had lots of fun introducing a riot of different influences into the space.
To achieve a similar eclectic look on a budget, definitely don't just stick to the high street. Yes, IKEA furniture still has a part to play, but I find all my favourite pieces in the most unexpected places - a car boot sale, at the back of a dusty charity shop or by the side of the road!
